This is an archival pigment print from the original relief print. The block used in the original print was found at a local lumber mill. At thirty-two years old, the tree experienced a trauma, causing that year’s growth ring to separate from the following year’s growth. This allowed the center to be removed. After removing the core, the block of wood dried and the center no longer fit back into place. This dynamic is emphasized through the overprint center, sitting on the full block. This print also showcases the differentiation between the heartwood and that encircles the void and the surrounding lighter sapwood. It’s a stunning print.
