ABOUT BRYANBryan Nash Gill was born and raised in the same rural, north-western corner of Connecticut were he works as an artist today. His sculptures and drawings are heavily influenced by the New England countryside but also by geographical regions as diverse as Carrara, Italy, New Orleans, and northern California where he has lived and worked. Gill earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Tulane University in 1984 and his Masters of Fine Arts from the California College of the Arts in Oakland four years later. A California Arts Council fellow, Gill has since showed his work at many exhibitions and galleries across the United States, including a solo show at the New Britain Museum of American Art in 2004 and 2006, and at the prestigious DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park located in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Gill is also a two time recipient of the Individual Artists Grant from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts. He was also commissioned to create an installation for the American Pavilion at the Japanese Worlds Fair in Aichi, Japan, in 2005. Gill currently works out of his own studio in New Hartford, Connecticut, mainly with bronze, wood and hundreds of found objects for use in abstract sculpture. Pat Rosoff an art critic for the Hartford Advocate wrote Bryan Nash Gill is not simply a naturalist, he is an artist rooted in naturehe draws his vocabulary from the world of New England's woods. His work is in many private and public collections including IBM Corporation in New York, Kaiser Permanente Medical Facility in Fairfield, California and the Boston Public Library just to name a few. In addition to his own work Gill has recently been awarded the Goodman-Banks Artist Residency at the Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, Connecticut. Gill has worked as assistant to Andrew Ginzel and Kristin Jones for a new urban landscape exhibition at the Worlds Financial Center in New York and as an assistant to Dennis Leon at the Fuller-Gross Gallery in San Francisco, California.
